about
Making rental management actually make sense
Landlords in Québec were juggling tenant searches, paper leases, payment tracking, and endless back-and-forth emails.
Bloc.Solutions put all of it, tenant screening, e-signatures, rent reminders, credit checks, communication, in one place that actually feels intuitive.
challenge
Making digital feel less scary than paperwork
The rental world runs on paper trails, legal paranoia, and a dozen different tools that don't talk to each other. Small landlords especially weren't going to ditch their filing cabinets for something that felt complicated or sketchy. So we built something that felt solid, simple, and actually worth the switch. Lots of prototyping, lots of user testing, lots of "wait, where's that button again?"
the solutions
Building the system that built the product
For five years, I was the design lead: made the logo, the identity surrounding it, built a design system in Figma that actually scaled, prototyped the core flows, and kept two other designers on the same page. I also knocked out marketing stuff when we needed it.
The goal was simple, make it usable, make it consistent, make it feel like one coherent.
And that where the rental cycle came in.
the results
The platform scaled really well, thanks to smart integrations and a design system that kept everything consistent. Not every feature made it to launch, some got shelved, but the early prototyping helped us figure out what mattered most. The stuff we built? It worked.

specific case study
Before 2019, each September, Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy (CNDF), used to manually process 300+ housing leases for international students arriving from abroad. The process was overwhelming: paper-heavy, time-consuming, and stressful for both staff and students who couldn't sign until arrival.
In 2020, they made the switch and thanks to Bloc automated email reminders, 35% of leases were signed within the first 19 days of that year.

Students typically lived 100km from campus, a 200km round trip for in-person lease signing. At an average of 153g CO2 per kilometer, eliminating those trips saved 4.3 tonnes of emissions.
Also, each lease required 12 sheets of paper plus 4-sheet annexes, going digital eliminated 2,272 sheets in one semester alone.

- For students: Housing guaranteed before arrival
- For staff: Automated generation, no re-entering data
- For everyone: Documents accessible anytime, anywhere
"User friendly, time saved because we don't have to re-enter data every time.
Our main goal was to lighten the process and that's achieved!"↝ Mélissa Simard, Manager at CNDF
a quick adoption rate
Tenant onboarding got faster. Paper usage dropped. People moving in the province could find and sign for a lease before even visiting the country. The platform scaled without falling apart, thanks to smart integrations and a design system that kept everything consistent (and saved the dev team a ton of time).
Of course, some features got shelved, but the constant prototyping helped us figure out what mattered most.
The stuff we built? It worked.
